How often do we hear someone say “I’ll clean this up later”? We all know someone that is all about the boom of creativity and not as much about the tidying. Why is this important, anyway? Because being disorganized can make work take more time – and even make us lose some good ideas in the process.
While there isn’t one way to do anything, having some kind of organization process that fits our needs (or our team’s if we’re working with others), can make wonders to our design process. Keeping our work organized from the start might take some more time initially, because it requires a dedicated attention to that detail, but it will undoubtedly speed up the process further down the line: it makes it easier to accommodate iterations, collaborate with others and even present your ideas; and it’s a lot better than trying to bring order to the mayhem that is an After Effects with no names on the layers, a Figma file that has assets all over the place or a Webflow project with classes name “header-1-final-this-is-it”.
